Avril Lavigne can't predict the future

I speak of events you feel you could change had you the ability to time travel. It also relates to another phenomenon thats prevalent in sci-fi action shows I live vicariously through.

Don't fear the reaper

Why do people fear death? Confused? I certainly elephant.

This isn't advocating suicide though if you have those kinds of plans, I'm not going to talk you out of it. I find it amusing that theists who stand to gain the most from their demise should fight so strongly against it though.
Just irks me when people say they are afraid of death because that's not the truth. They are afraid of dying; the difference is pain.

Let's say you wake up one morning refreshed and ready to go. You can just barely remember a strange dream you had.. but you needed your mind to be conscious in order to be aware of the dream and rate its significance. As far as you were concerned while dreaming or not, you were dead. Your conscious wasn't present.. that is as significant as death to you.

From the outside you aren't 'technically' dead, you have no consciousness but your body maintains itself autonomously. You are still alive.

We need a new definition of the pain of dying. I would be fine with the fear of that, it's obviously an evolutionary response to create fear from the thought of the body being punctured, burned, mutilated and intense pain when it is. Enjoyment of pain and happiness in the face of dying does nothing for a species longevity.

Perhaps now we can all appreciate how much we would enjoy death.. as much as a good night sleep.

Wrong country for a nerd

I live, as some of you know, in Australia.

For anyone else living here, you are aware how dastardly the conditions are for nerds like me. I am a cold weather animal; in fact every person I've met who enjoys computers that has a general distaste for people and the outdoors - enjoys cold weather.

Bless me father, for I have pirated

I don't have an iPhone or Android or anything like it but I understand the 'app' world for them completely.

I've seen people use them and I'm still underwhelmed since I rarely leave the house:

This comes after hearing of another polerizing topic, religion, attempt to connect with the younger generation by releasing a 'Confession app'. It doesn't replace actual confession so you still need to pay a padre a visit; all it offers is a walkthrough of the process and some navigation on what sin you may have commited.

It's available for $1.99 in the app store, someone comment if you have used it.

Wild Animals in Floods

I'm sure you have heard the news of the floods and more recent cyclone hit Australia.

From where I live it didn't really effect me - it's the other side of the country that took the blows. Since they already took a nasty cyclone 4 years ago they rebuilt stronger and caused the media a headache as there wasn't much negativity to capitalize upon.
Nothing a camera crew likes more than to see a dead kid floating down the street after all.

EVE can be win, even if you lose

If you know this game you're bound to have a strong opinion.

For those that don't, it makes you a believer or a sinner or whatever you want to be.

There is a misconception that it requires alot of learning to understand and play which isn't strictly true, it works best with a certain personality type. The kind that has little imagination, dislikes asymmetry and revels in efficiency.
These people are also great orchestral musicians, not writers of the music but the repeaters of perfection. We don't care how patronizing we sound as long as what are are saying, is correct.
So back to the point: EVE Online.

Hello world.

Readers

Engaging in a pretentious position of assuming others care about your own opinion isn't something to be taken lightly. However I will endeavor to make this as painless as possible for both of us with observations that appear legitimate.
